Private Medical Practices
A Board Certified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon is clearly the best place to obtain excellent medical surgical and cosmetic care for the skin. Often people have an established relationship with their doctor and consult initially with them regarding this procedure. Most doctors will refer their patients out to other more qualified colleagues if their own experience with a particular procedure is lacking. Many doctors routinely refer their patients to me because I specialize in tattoo removal.

Larger Medical Cosmetic Practices
Aging and beauty, not tattoo removal, are the main focus in most cosmetic medical practices. Few doctors who focus on many cosmetic procedures have the truly specialized expertise and long-term experience specifically with laser tattoo removal. There are often different doctors with various degrees of experience with different procedures. Medical studies have shown that specialization and the frequency with which a procedure is performed often translates into optimum safety and results. I specialize exclusively in laser tattoo removal and perform it personally every day for every single patient.

Some offices employ physician assistants or form associations with Nurse Practitioners who perform their laser tattoo removal in proper accordance with New York State guidelines. Privately owned by bold entrepreneurs or corporately run, places like these have sprouted across the country although less so in the New York area where discriminating New Yorkers demand qualified medical doctors. Appealing to consumers either by a pampering touch or opulent settings these places are savvy and try to fill every popular niche by offering offer a buffet of cosmetic services from Laser Spider Vein Removal to Laser Hair Removal. Unfortunately they often specialize in marketing not medicine. They often offer the illusion of medical supervision, which may translate into a physician on call who may simply have a financial interest in the facility. Some places may operate outside of their scope of practice or approved licensure and in clear violation of New York State Guidelines.
