What Does The Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment Feel Like
 

The most common statement my patients make to me after their first treatment is “That was nothing………I thought it would be much worse”.

In fact nobody in over 20,000 laser tattoo removal treatments has ever not tolerated a procedure or failed to come back. On the contrary, many referrals I receive are patients who have had painful and stressful procedures elsewhere.

It is often stated that Laser Tattoo Removal feels like a simple rubber band snap. That is what it feels like in my office. However, that is only true if performed properly with some form of preparation. Without such preparation, it can be a very painful procedure.

In my practice, I utilize a European skin-cooling machine, which acts like a computerized air conditioner for the area of skin the tattoo is under. By monitoring your skin temperature and maintaining it at about 12-15 degrees centigrade, I eliminate about 90% of all pain for most patients. This makes all the difference and my patients love it. I have used these machines for about six years now and it has allowed me to give my patients not only the most effective tattoo removal, but also the most comfortable.

A second advantage of this cooling machine is that it extracts all the heat from the skin after the procedure. This beneficial action practically eliminates the dramatic swelling that can occur without its use. Patients have virtually no down time from normal work and family time and rarely if ever do I receive phone calls about discomfort. This is a completely different post-laser course that my patients used to go through in the past prior to my importing this machine. This accounts for the gratitude that the patients I inherit from other offices feel toward me after their first treatment in my office.

For some patients I recommend a numbing cream in combination with my cooling machine. This is for larger more complex tattoos or tattoos in certain locations. Between the cream and my machine, I can treat anybody young or old with any degree of pain tolerance.

Lastly, I believe in relaxation and proper breathing. As a student of Chinese Tai Chi since 1983, I help each patient relax and breathe properly. I know this helps me whenever I am my doctor’s office and my patients tell me it helps them in mine. After the first treatment with me and their initial anxiety about the unknown, most patients relax completely and in fact look forward to their next treatment especially as they see their tattoo lightening with time.
